SPECTRUM: Embracing the FIU’s Festival of The Trees
SPECTRUM, which is the market’s 1# choice for high-end phenolic lockers and made from high quality Trespa®, has collaborated with MKDA Design Group. They’re an award-winning Miami design firm that was determined to create a unique and effortless creation, just in time for the holidays and the Festival of The Trees.
On November 15, 2018, The Festival of the Trees, a key social occasion for local design professionals, kicked off its 32nd celebration, in support of the Florida International University’s (FIU) Interior Architecture Department. The fundraising event hosted many tree sponsors, displays and auctions of the participating artwork, with all proceeds going towards the program’s student scholarships.
SPECTRUM Lockers, in conjunction with MKDA collaborated on the design capabilities of phenolic and the execution of the “tree” design. FIU held the Festival of the Trees at the Moore Building, which has a Zaha Hadid installation. It was this installation that inspired the desin for the MKDA tree, as seen in the design below.
How was the overall atmosphere?
The Festival of the Trees accommodated 500 plus people, with 40 trees designed by architects and designers all over South Florida. Having so many inspiring trees to look at we were happy to have had the most visitors.
Our tree was sure to catch the eyes of architects and designers alike, and were happy to see visitors were enjoying the display. Our guests asked questions regarding the cutting of the product and how it was done. We can do fairly large images, as it’s typically used as an application for lockers and benches.
However, we also gained attention with our gift!
The festival was enjoyable and something that we’ll always remember. MKDA’s great satisfaction with the product, support, collaboration and timing of the trees only made results better.
