AN AVANT-GARDE DESIGN STUDIO, HOME TO JGMA, A FIRM DEDICATED TO CREATING DESIGNS THAT ARE INCLUSIVE AND UPLIFT ALL SECTORS OF THE COMMUNITY, NEEDED A CREATIVE AND SECURE SOLUTION TO THEIR STORAGE NEEDS. THE PRODUCT FLEXIBILITY OF SPECTRUM LOCKERS HELPED BRING THE ARCHITECTS’ CUSTOMIZED DESIGN TO LIFE.
Juan Gabriel Moreno Architects (JGMA) – is a Chicago based firm dedicated to community involvement and commitment of people’s lives through a dynamic organization of space.
JGMA needed a creative solution to meet their storage needs. The small to mid-sized architecture studio operates under free-address, so no one has a designated desk or seat. This allows them to move freely among various working conditions, but it does create an issue of where to store personal effects and laptops securely at night. With such a creative studio office, JGMA needed a storage solution that was equally as creative. Due to the customization capacity and unmatched aesthetic appeal Spectrum Lockers offer, Spectrum was an easy choice for JGMA.
WHERE STYLE MEETS DURABILITY
Spectrum phenolic lockers produce the market’s number #1 choice of high-end lockers. The lockers are constructed of Trespa®, Arpa® and Fenix – a phenolic that is versatile, customizable and vandal resistant. Our lockers come in a wide range of solid colors, metallics and wood grains – which gives architects and designers plenty of options to play with. JGMA chose to incorporate durable Spectrum Lockers in their eating area, which serves as a gathering/socializing space in the office. It was the ideal space for staff to store their personal effects and laptops. The durability of Spectrum Lockers allows staff to have peace of mind when leaving their laptops and other belongings at night.
PRODUCT: ARPA ATHLON
A decisive factor for JGMA was to be able to incorporate their trademark abstracted image onto the lockers. The abstracted image represents the founder of JGMA, and is a reminder of where they began, during the height of the great recession in 2010. Today, after becoming an award-winning studio, that image still connects JGMA to their roots and philosophy.
By partnering with Spectrum’s experienced team, JGMA was able to showcase their trademark abstract graphic.
They simply sent the applicable design files and our team made it a reality using precise CNC customization capacity. The pattern was engraved onto the front face of the white phenolic doors, exposing the black core. This created an attractive contrast that will not fade with time or use, producing a long lasting, durable and easy to maintain storage solution. The durability of Spectrum is perfect for high traffic areas, such as JGMA’s eating space, and has generated positive feedback from the architects.
“The lockers look fantastic. I absolutely love them.”
— John A. Rausch, AIA, RID Design Principal + Founder | JGMA
Since the lockers have been installed, the staff at JGMA has been enjoying having a place to store their belongings, since the amenities at the studio office are shared. Stylish and durable, Spectrum Lockers will look great for years to come.
